G: Gradius

Developer: Konami
Game Type: Shooter
Difficulty: Hard

Gradius is Konami's arcade shooter that was ported over to the NES. It's not the best shooter in the NES's library, but its definitely one of the most well known.

This was the first shooter in and what would become a long line of shooters by Konami. And allot of what’s established here is applied to every one of their game there after.

What’s cool about Gradius is that you get power up tanks that you have to use in order to get the power up. Get a specific number of the power up tanks, and you get a specific weapon, or power up. This helps you strategically in which power ups you will be needing first if you so happen to die in a rough spot.

Gradius, like many other shooters is very tough. You will likely die on the first level if you have never played the game before. But once you beat the game, you can run through it with ease.

The downside to this game is that the music and graphics aren’t that great. And the all of the levels are pretty much at the same slow pace, which can get boring at times. It's still a good game though and I recommend checking it out.
