The Empire Strikes Back was an awesome movie! Definitely the best movie out of the original Trilogy (which automatically makes it the best Star Wars movie). But the NES version sucks pretty bad. The reason for this is because its hard for all the wrong reasons, yet somehow easy if you bother to master the sloppy controls. The game loosely fallows the story of the movie (minus all the Han Solo parts) where you start out in the ice caves of Hoth, then you fly around blowing up imperial walkers. Then you go to Dagobah, and finally Bespin to face Vader. The levels are very repetitive and hard to navigate at first. Your control over Luke is pretty shaky, especially when jumping. Any pin point platforming is a nightmare in this game, especially when the platforms are moving and there is water under you. The reason why this game would be considered easy is because everything is easy to kill, even the bosses. And there are plenty of health power ups after killing enemies and hidden throughout the level. The most challenging part of the game is figuring out what your suppose to do. The only reason I can see anyone getting this game is if they were some crazy collector that must have everything with the "Star Wars" brand on it. I would recommend avoiding it if you plan on playing it though. |
